Queen Alexandra Memorial Pavilion
The Queen Alexandra Memorial Pavilion (QAMP) is located on the Alveston Road in Old Down. The site and the building are owned by Olveston Parish Council and regular monthly council meetings are held in the Pavilion committee room.
The site is well established as a recreation ground with Village Green status established in 1975. Its original use however was associated with the old stone quarry that lies to the southwest, part of which is now home to the Olveston Scout building.
The Queen Alexandra Memorial Building, situated on the south side of the site was originally given to the Parish in 1926 and it was at that time that the recreation ground started to be used regularly as a football pitch.
Today, as well as being the registered home of Olveston Parish Council, the green and the pavilion are in regular use by Olveston United AFC, with the pavilion also serving Old Down Cricket Club.
The QAMP is a community asset where public meeting and event can be held and can be hired for a small fee for private events. To find out more please contact the Clerk to the Parish Council, details for which on the contacts page above.
