Play Areas
Olveston Parish is lucky enough to have three play areas, one in each of Olveston, Tockington and Old Down. There is a range of play equipment the areas suitable for children of all ages up to 14 years old.
Olveston
With its large green space, the play area adjacent to Vicarage Lane, Olveston has an agility trail, multi-play equipment as well as swings for toddlers and older children. Whilst still a favourite place for parents and children to visit on their way home from school, the Parish Council are hoping to refurbish and replace all the equipment in the next couple of years.
Tockington
The play equipment sited behind the Parish Hall on Upper Tockington Road is funded predominantly by the adjacent preschool, although the area is open for all children to use. There is also a Multi-use Games Area to the left hand side of the Hall that is suitable for 5-a-side football, outdoor games and fitness classes and acts as a third tennis court if required. It is also used as an additional car park when the Parish Hall is busy.
Old Down
The equipment in the play area at Old Down is located to the right of the Queen Alexandra Memorial Pavilion and is currently the newest in the Parish. The area was completely redesigned and new equipment installed in a £40,000 project, with the area being officially opened by one of the local children in September 2021.
All three play areas are inspected and maintained regularly by members of the Parish Council, with official Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) safety inspections taking place annually.
