Knit and Natter

Fancy a natter? Come down to the Olveston Sports and Social Club on Wednesday 9 September for our first Knit and Natter. Thereafter you can join us with your needles every other Wednesday from 11am. See the poster below for details.

Cost of Living Support

You can also call the council’s freephone helpline on 0800 953 7778 or visit a One Stop Shop in Kingswood, Patchway or Yate.

New Bus Service

September 11, 2025

new Y2C bus service is being trialed in the area. The Y2C connects Yate and Cribbs Causeway via Engine Common, Rangeworthy, Tytherington, Thornbury, Alveston, Olveston, Tockington, and Almondsbury.Services will run on weekdays and Saturdays, approximately every 80-90 minutes. The timetable can be viewed below, or downloaded from the West of England Combined Authority (WECA) website.

Allotment Plots Available

Are you interested in growing your own fruit and vegetables, but short of space?

The allotment association (OPAGA) has a small number of plots available (of various sizes) and this is the perfect time of year to begin! The allotments are in Elberton Road, opposite the school. Growing your own is a sociable and satisfying hobby as well as being a wonderful outdoor way of getting some exercise. There’s plenty of advice available from other friendly allotmenteers!

The Parish is in urgent need of help overseeing the maintenance and management of the four defibrillators we are fortunate enough to have dotted around our villages. Full training wil be given. Please read the notice for futher details and get in touch if you are able to assist.
