Annual Parish Assembly 2019

The Annual Parish Assembly will take place at Olveston Parish Hall on Tuesday 2nd April at 7.30 pm

This year the meeting will have a new format. The Annual Assembly should be viewed as an opportunity for The Parishioners to enquire and / or question the activities of the Parish Council. It should also be the forum to promote the many varied clubs and activities which regularly take place in the Parish. During the month of March, The Council will be approaching a number of organisations to enquire whether they would like to take part in the meeting by showcasing their club / activity for the benefit of their fellow parishioners. We would suggest the presentations should take a maximum of 10 minutes.

The evening will commence with the Chairman’s report and a review of the year. This will be followed by the Financial Report presented by our new Parish Clerk, Malcolm Evans.

The evening will conclude with refreshments.

The Olveston Parish Council look forward to welcoming you on Tuesday 2nd April

Computer Clinic

Due to falling numbers and a lack of volunteers we have had to take the sad decision to close the doors on The Computer Clinic. It is just a couple of months short of 5 years and we have had a lot of fun, some weird and wonderful problems to discuss and a few jokes along the way. Speaking personally, it has been fantastic to witness people coming in feeling a bit apprehensive or frustrated by their technology and over a period of time growing in confidence and actually starting to enjoy it.

We have had people from far and wide, the usual parish areas Ingst, Tockinton, Olveston and Old Down but also Elberton, Itchington, Alveston, Aust, Thornbury, Berkeley and Sheffield even two different regular visitors from the USA, one from Washington and the other from California whilst they were in the Parish visiting family.

I’d like to thank the Olveston & Tockington Methodists and the Parish Council for their support, our previous volunteers and finally my stalwart Friday night “partner in crime” Glyn Varney, without whom it would not have been half as much fun. And last but by no means least to all those who have come along and used our services and made even my brain hurt a few times.

Our last day will be Friday the 14th December 2018 where there may be the odd mince pie or two available to go along with the coffee and tea.
